Great Egret

I took the photo above, of an American Egret at Circle Lake in Rice Co., MN, on 27 April 2011.  When I developed the image, I was surprised by the bright, baby-blue lores.  The lores in all previous photographs I've taken have been yellow, as in the egret below, taken last February, from Corkscrew Sanctuary near Napes Florida.  The blue color--Mccrimmon (2011) calls the hue lime green--appears in the spring but fades when incubation begins.
